Occasion: While aboard ship. The undress uniform
should never be worn planetside. This uniform is worn by
all non-flag ranks, with slight variation. It is not authorized
for flag officers and midshipmen.
Cover: A cocked hat with a white cockade fastened
to the hat by a gold button.
Sword: An RNS officer's sword is generally not worn
with this uniform, but is authorized.
Description: A short navy blue coat with navy blue
facings. Buttons run the full
length
of the front of the coat Buttons and trim are gold for line
officers, silver for commissioned officers. Captains wear
four sleeve stripes, commanders and Surgeons-Commander three,
first lieutenants and civilian officers over three years
service two, lieutenants and other civilian officers one,
and acting lieutenants none. The coat is worn over
a light grey waistcoat and a
white
shirt
with
a
black
cravat.
Black
trousers accompany the uniform.
