Developing your record means deciding on your character's history
since joining the RNS. Not all characters will have spent the same
amount of time in the RNS, so every character will have had a different
experience. Read the Occupations
document for more details.
Starting out
In the Academy: The Academy provides a four-year programme
for both marine and naval line officers. More details can be found
on the Royal Naval Academy page.
As a Midshipman: Naval line officers can also start their
careers as midshipmen -- apprentices of a sort who train for six
years onboard a vessel before taking an examination to be promoted
to Lieutenant. More details about this can be found on the Occupations
page.
Assignments
The assignments of an RNS officer can vary from ship-board assignments
to an assignment on a space station to an assignment on the ground.
The names of RNS ships are almost always adjectives (e.g. Formidable,
Alacritous, Swiftsure, Courageous) and are prefixed by the letters
HMS (short for His Majesty's Ship). Space stations have similar
names (e.g. Resolute) but are prefixed by the letters HMSB (His
Majesty's Service Base). Ground installations apart from the Admiralty
are named after their location (e.g. Nialesia) prefixed by HMSB.
For the names of ships in the Formidable Squadron (currently the
only PC squadron), visit the Ships
page.
Feel free to be creative in describing your character's experiences
as a part of the RNS. You may want to take a look at the History
section for some ideas.
Congratulations! You should now be able to submit your application.
