What is Poseidon Energy?

Poseidon Energy is a joint-venture between the Odarite Merchants Guild (OMG) and the Government of Sivad established to develop Sivad's recently-discovered stasidenum resource.

Poseidon Energy Inc. is 50% owned by OMG and 50% owned by the Government of Sivad. The offshore drilling platform of Poseidon Energy will be jointly-operated by Sivadian and Odarite personnel. The OMG will provide the initial investment required to build the Poseidon Offshore Platform, which will be built on Sivad.

How will Poseidon Energy help Sivadians?

In the wake of the sudden devaluation of the yojj, Sivad's economy has been left signifiantly weakended. The discovery of stasidenum under the Naeco Ocean on Sivad promises to significantly revitalise Sivad's economy by providing Sivad with a new source of export revenue and increasing foreign investment in the Sivadian economy.

Will stasidenum hurt Sivad's polydenum industry?

No. Market research performed by the Government of Sivad suggests that although a safer alternative to polydenum is desperately needed in some sectors, many other industries will still depend on polydenum. In short, stasidenum will expand the energy market, not introduce more competition.

What is the Poseidon Offshore Platform?

Stasidenum on Sivad can be found deep under the Naeco Ocean, as many as eight kilometres below the planetary crust. The Poseidon Offshore Platform will drill beneath the surface to extract stasidenum. Space vessels launching from a landing pad built onto the platform will deliver extracted stasidenum to processing stations on Morrigan and then on to customers at home and abroad.

The technology to extract stasidenum actually already exists. Certain obscure industries of little economic importance depend upon a nearly worthless substance known as "petroleum" found in abundance under the ocean. Engineers have developed modifications to these offshore petroleum platforms so that they can extract valuable stasidenum instead.

Will the Poseidon Energy project have any detrimental effects on Sivad's environment?

The Government of Sivad is very concerned about the state of Sivad's environment. Before extraction begins, OMG will be required to conduct a thorough environmental assessment. However, initial evidence suggests that stasidenum can be extracted completely safely.
